The National Audubon Society coordinates the Christmas Bird Count each year during this season. The Christmas Bird Count is a census of birds in the Western Hemisphere, by volunteer birdwatchers. From the Audubon website, "The 115th Christmas Bird Count begins on Sunday, December 14th, 2014, and runs through Monday, January 5th, 2015.
